KOREAN FOOD>
Korean food
is one of the most varied and unique cuisines in Asia. The modern Korean
housewife cooks with a repertoire of vegetables and spices, using
age-old recipes handed down from the tables of Korean kings and Buddhist
monks.
Korea has
four distinct seasons with winter being particularly cold. This climate,
in combination with the mountainous interior, has given Koreans an
appetite for hearty stimulating food. Soups and meats are cooked with
chillies, garlic, ginseng and many medicinal vegetables, berries and
nuts.
The four
distinct seasons have guaranteed the Koreans a steady flow of seasonal
produce. Korea is famous for its kimchi. This is served with every meal.
On first impressions partially rotting cabbage may seem unappetising,
however it does become very addictive.
