HAGWONS>
What is a
hagwon (sometimes spelled hogwan)? A hagwon is the Korean name for a
privately owned learning institute. They will teach English, physics,
math, violin, taekwondo, speed reading and anything else they can think
of. Koreans will spend 50% of the family income on education. Every
child will go to at least one hagwon. The best Korean English teachers
will work at hagwons rather than public schools as the salary in better.
4DS have worked with
many of our schools since 2005 and built up a reliable network of secure
schools with good working conditions, friendly staff and directors.
Some
points about hogwans:
Class
sizes are small and the maximum number of students will be 14.
Dress code
for teachers is semi-smart or neat and tidy casual clothes.
Foreign
teachers will be looked upon much more favourably if they dress well.
Hogwans
are businesses and profit most definitely comes first.
Students
respect the teachers.
Management
practises are very different to the West and might take a bit of getting
used to. |
