KOREAN TEMPLES>
Korea was
originally predominately Buddhist and many beautiful historic working
temples remain. The temples are stunning all year round. The bright
colours are accentuated by the snow in winter, the sunshine in summer,
the cherry blossom in spring and the turning leaves in fall.
Although the
majority of Koreans are now Christians many families practice Buddhism
especially in the south of the country. The temples are very popular
with tourists on public holidays. To see them in their full splendour
try to visit on your school holidays or a weekend.
A popular
trip for our
4DS
teachers is to spend a night at a monastery with the monks. You can see
how the the monks live and also join in their routine, which includes a
four O'clock rise.
